A school board has one job: make sure every child in the district gets a safe, serious education paid for honestly. Everything below flows from that single promise.
Schools exist to teach. Charissa will refocus GUHSD on the fundamentals — reading, writing, math and real-world skills — with curriculum parents can see and understand.
East County families budget carefully every month. Their school board should too. Charissa will treat every taxpayer dollar like it came out of her own paycheck — because it did.
Leadership is not a title, it is a habit: listen first, decide carefully, explain openly. Charissa will be the board member neighbors can actually reach — and actually understand.
Beyond the ABC’s
Parents — not bureaucrats — are the first people who should hear about anything affecting their child. Charissa has stood with East County families demanding notification, and she will vote for it.
Secure campuses, clear discipline and drug-free grounds. A child cannot learn — and a teacher cannot teach — without order in the classroom.
Educators deserve competitive pay, workable class sizes and a board that backs them in the classroom instead of second-guessing them from a dais.
Local business, law enforcement, faith groups and nonprofits all want kids to succeed. The board should welcome them at the table, not push them away.
From classroom reading events to American history books in students’ hands, Charissa champions literacy and civic knowledge as the foundation of everything else.
Board meetings are public for a reason. Charissa will publish where she stands before votes — not after — and hold herself to the same standard she asks of staff.
