Her Story
The mom who shows up, now the voice in the boardroom.
My name is Charissa “Chrissy” McCullough. I am a mother, educator, businesswoman, and active parent volunteer dedicated to the future of East County. My faith and love for this community guide my commitment to serving with integrity, compassion, and common sense.
As a mom raising high school-aged children, I understand the hopes and challenges families face and the importance of keeping parents involved in their children’s education. I work in a school, substitute teach, and work with students every day, giving me firsthand experience with the needs of students and educators.
I believe our schools should prioritize academic excellence and student safety while preparing students for life after graduation. Whether students choose college, trade school, military service, or entrepreneurship, they deserve the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to succeed. I also believe athletics, arts, and clubs are an important part of a well-rounded education.
Having navigated the IEP process, I understand that students deserve the support they need, and educators deserve the training, resources, and support necessary to help them succeed.
I believe taxpayer dollars should be treated with care and transparency, with spending prioritized toward classrooms and student needs. I support keeping the focus on academics, making school activities more affordable, opposing new taxes and school bonds, and upholding Title IX protections for girls in sports.
My goal is to help build safe, excellent schools where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

A parent volunteer at school events and reading days, putting books in hands and showing kids that neighbors show up.
On your street
My campaign is built around grassroots community involvement. I am meeting families face-to-face, knocking on doors, listening to residents, and having conversations with people throughout the community. My campaign is supported by parents and community members who choose to contribute, volunteer, and help spread the word. I am running an independent campaign focused on local families and students rather than relying on unions or outside interests to define my priorities.

I will prioritize reading, writing, math, science, and history, while supporting teachers, addressing learning gaps, and preparing every student for success after graduation.

I will prioritize classrooms, protect taxpayer dollars, provide transparent budgets, and oppose tax-raising or tax-extending school bonds.

I will listen to parents, teachers, staff, and the community, keep families informed, and keep board decisions focused on student learning, safety, and success.
